Welcome to First Baptist Church of Parkersburg
Where Faith, Community, and Hope Come Together

Our Beliefs

At FBC, we are a community of faith in a world of opportunity—growing, serving, and worshiping together. We care for each other like family and are committed to teaching the Word of God with clarity, love, and purpose. Whether you're new to church or searching for a place to belong, you’ll find warmth, connection, and a church home here.

Rooted in Faith, Guided by Scripture

Founded in 1817, First Baptist Church has stood strong for more than two centuries—grounded in biblical truth, rich in tradition, and fueled by a deep love for God and His people. We continue to honor our heritage while embracing the opportunities God places before us today.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Scripture is our foundation. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, trustworthy and sufficient for guiding our lives, shaping our faith, and strengthening our walk with Christ.

Jesus Christ at the Center

We believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone—by grace, through faith—not by our own works, but by the gift of God.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)

Baptism as an Expression of Faith

As a Baptist church, we practice believer’s baptism by immersion. Baptism does not save us, but it symbolizes the inner transformation that takes place when we place our faith in Jesus. It is a public declaration of following Christ and a beautiful picture of His death, burial, and resurrection.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that… we too may live a new life.” — Romans 6:4 (NIV)

Living Out Our Faith Together

We believe every follower of Jesus is called to grow spiritually, serve others, share the gospel, and live out their faith in everyday life. Together, we seek to reflect Christ’s love in our homes, our community, and the world.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds… encouraging one another.” — Hebrews 10:24–25 (NIV)
